Beer cake with butter.

Serve sliced and buttered with cold butter. Wait until the cake has cooled down completely. It doesnt have as much flavor if you eat it warm.

Bowl 1 should be 3/4 liter, bowl 2 should be 2 liter, the molds should be 3 liter, but a little less than that is okay. The dough is approximately 1 1/2 liter before it is baked.

If you are out of dark brown sugar, normal sugar can be used instead.

Hvidtøl is a dark, sweet, low-alcohol beer. It is top fermented, and brewed on toasted malt. The original hvidtøl was brewed on air-dried malt, and therefore had a light color. Hence the name (hvidt = white, øl = beer). It was the only type of beer brewed on Danish farms for centuries. During the 1800s it changed to be brewed on darker malts, and therefore got a darker color. From around 1900 hvidtøl had found its current format. Hvidtøl is more like a soft drink than what we nowadays understand by beer.
