Two switches, one cable

One cable with two switches sounds like something out of a logic tutorial. But in this case it is not an example of an AND operator, but a small unconventional home improvement detail.

I bought this old mid-century E.S. Horn floor lamp. I dont think it came with the original cables. To me they took up more visual space than necessary. They looked too busy. Also I wanted the switches to be foot operated. So I changed them.

The new solution has foot switches and it minimizes cabling, and consequently puts two switches on one cable. This might be counterintuitive at first. But it is quite simple when you know that the middle cable has three conductors.

A more conventional solution would be to have a foot switch with two buttons. I couldnt find any, and doubt they exist. After using the solution with two foot switches for some time, I am quite satisfied with it, and wouldnt change if I found such a double foot switch.
